Fan Guide

Supporting creators and managing your library on Makenot.work.

What Makes This Different

The platform takes 0%. The only fee is ~3% from payment processing, and that goes to the processor, not the platform.

You find creators through search and browsing, direct links, follows, and recommendations from people you trust. Everything you see traces back to a choice you made. No ads, no tracking, no opaque recommendations.

Every item is classified as Handmade, Assisted, or Generated based on generative AI use. You can filter by tier. See the Generative AI Policy for details.

Your purchases are permanent and downloadable. No DRM, no streaming-only restrictions, no region locks.

How Payments Work

  1. You pay for content or join a creator’s membership tier
  2. Payment goes directly to the creator’s account minus ~3% processing
  3. We make money from creator tier fees ($16-$60/month), not from your purchases

Guest Checkout (No Account Required)

Buy content without creating an account. Click “Buy Now,” complete payment via Stripe (only your email is collected), and receive a download link immediately. Free items work the same way. If you later create an account with the same email, all prior purchases appear in your library automatically.

Ways to Support

One-Time Purchases

Pay once, own forever. Download in original format, re-download anytime, no DRM. Access never expires, even if the creator leaves the platform.

Memberships

Monthly billing, cancel anytime. Access member-only content while subscribed. Creators can grant permanent access to items released during your membership.

Pay-What-You-Want

Pay the minimum or more. Minimum is sometimes $0. The full amount above processing fees goes to the creator.

Finding Content

Discover Page

The discover page is the main browsing interface. Search, filter by type/tag/price/AI tier, and sort by newest, most sold, or price. Switch between Items and Projects views. See Discovery for full details.

Tag Browser

The tag tree lets you browse the full tag hierarchy visually. Click into a category to see subcategories and tagged items.

Your Feed

Once you follow creators, projects, or tags, your feed shows new items from everything you follow. No notifications by default, just your feed.

Cart and Wishlist

Add items to your shopping cart to buy multiple items in one checkout flow, even from different creators. Save items for later with your wishlist. Wishlisted items appear as suggestions on your cart page.

Your Library

Your library at /library contains purchases (yours forever), active memberships (access while subscribed), license keys, and free claims. Each entry links to the item page for streaming or download.

Purchases vs. Memberships

Purchases are permanent. If a creator raises the price, you still have it. If a creator leaves, you have 90 days to download. Transaction records are preserved indefinitely.

Memberships give access while you’re a member. Cancel and you lose member-only content at the end of your billing period. Individual purchases remain yours regardless.

Downloads

Go to any item in your library and click “Download.” File downloads in the original format. Re-download anytime, no limits.

Streaming

Audio items play directly in the browser. Streaming quality matches the uploaded file.

Account

Fan accounts are free. An account lets you build a library, follow creators, manage memberships, download files, and share your email with creators you trust.

If a Creator Leaves

When a creator deletes their account, your purchased content remains accessible for 90 days. Download during this window. Transaction records are preserved indefinitely. See buyer access guarantee.

If We Shut Down

90 days advance notice and bulk download access for all purchases. See our shutdown guarantee.

Privacy

No analytics cookies, ads, browsing history collection, or device fingerprinting. We store your email, username, and transaction records. See our Privacy Policy.
