# Mailing Lists

Each project has built-in mailing lists. No third-party email service needed.

## List Types

Every project automatically gets two mailing lists:

| List | Purpose |
|------|---------|
| **Content** | New releases and content updates |
| **Devlog** | Development updates and behind-the-scenes |

Lists are created automatically when you create a project.

## Subscribers

When someone follows a project, they are subscribed to its content list by default.

Subscriber requirements:

- Verified email address
- Account not suspended
- Email not suppressed (bounced or complained)

The subscriber cap is 10,000 per list.

## Sending a Broadcast

To send a broadcast email:

1. Go to your dashboard
2. Click "Broadcast"
3. Write a subject (up to 200 characters) and body (up to 5,000 characters)
4. Send

Broadcasts are plain-text emails. Each email includes an unsubscribe link.

Rate limit: one broadcast per 24 hours.

## Automatic Notifications

The platform sends automatic emails when:

- You publish a new item (content list)
- You publish a blog post (content list)

These are triggered by the scheduler and do not count against your broadcast rate limit.

## Unsubscribing

Fans can unsubscribe from individual lists via the link in any email, or by unfollowing your project (which unsubscribes from all of that project's lists).

## Importing Subscribers

Subscriber import from other platforms (CSV upload with consent emails) is on the [roadmap]../about/roadmap.md. When migrating, use the [data import tools]./migration.md to bring over your content; your audience can follow your new project to subscribe.
