max / makenotwork

Take quasi 0.31 The tab strip carries its panels' addresses now (quasi dfbc88ce), so a described strip fetches on a press instead of fetching every panel on load. Nothing here reads the changed surface yet; this is the forward fix that keeps the requirement resolvable.
