Code of Conduct

Applies to platform-operated spaces: official channels, direct communication with us, and the platform forum at forums.makenot.work. Creator-run forums have their own rules.

The Short Version

Be decent. Assume good faith. Stay on topic.

Expected Behavior

Treat people with respect: Disagreement is fine; personal attacks aren’t
Stay on topic: Platform forums are for platform discussion
Give constructive feedback: “This doesn’t work for me because X” is useful; “this sucks” isn’t
Respect privacy: Don’t share others’ personal information

Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment: Sustained unwanted contact, threats, or intimidation
Discrimination: Attacks based on identity, background, or protected characteristics
Spam: Promotional content, repetitive posts, off-topic solicitation
Doxxing: Sharing private information without consent
Bad faith participation: Trolling, intentional disruption, sea-lioning

Enforcement

Direct message: Most first violations get a note explaining the issue
Temporary suspension: Repeated issues or serious violations
Permanent ban: Sustained bad behavior or egregious violations

We try to be fair and explain our reasoning, but we don’t have elaborate appeals processes.

For Creator Forums

Creators set their own community standards. If you have issues with a creator’s forum, contact the creator directly. We only intervene for legal violations or content that harms the broader platform.
